Ensoniq | SQ-2

Description

The ENSONIQ SQ-2 is the most inexpensive 76 key synthesizer available, but saving money doesn't mean that you have to give up important features. Great sounds, 24-bit dynamic effects, a 12 track sequencer with automated mixdown, and excellent MIDI master controller capabilities are just some of the features of this powerful keyboard. The ENSONIQ SQ-2 can hold up to 180 internal sounds (340 with optional card) perfect for any style of music. Outstanding drum and percussion sounds (including 20 drum kits in ROM), realistic acoustic simulations and fat analog synth sounds are but some of the instruments included.

The impressive sound of the SQ-2 comes from the 125 sampled acoustic and synthetic waves used to create a broad range of instruments, including a Megabyte of 16 bit piano waveforms for a rich and majestic piano sound that befits 76 keys. Besides acoustic and synthetic waves, the SQ-2 feature ENSONIQ's unique Transwaves, which offer a moving and dynamic sound that will make your music come alive. Digital effects processing is an important part of the sound of the ENSONIQ SQ-2. Various reverb, chorusing, flanging, phasing, distortion, and roto-speaker programs are provided with dynamic control over many of the settings. Use the Mod wheel to change the size of the room you're playing in, or add more distortion by striking the keys a little harder. The 16-track sequencer on the SQ-2 works in perfect harmony with the synthesizer operations. Record in real-time as you play or use step-entry to enter parts that are difficult to perform. Auto-locate and range editing options allow you to center in on a specific bar, beat, or even individual note to play back or edit. A wide range of editing features lets you modify parts or experiment freely -even audition different ideas against the original track to decide the best approach.

Only ENSONIQ sequencers offer this type of musical flexibility. As a MIDI master controller the SQ-2 offers a responsive 76-key keyboard with programmable velocity sensitivity, giving you a feel that can be adjusted to your playing style. By splitting the keyboard up into 8 zones you can layer external modules, perhaps trigger some samples, and still have room to "wail" on some internal sounds. Sometimes 61 keys just isn't enough, and now there's a reasonable alternative ...the ENSONIQ SQ-2 Personal Music Studio.

Velocity As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. Aftertouch Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel.
Values for OSC, LFO, Filter, Envelope are per voice unless stated otherwise.
